This is an interview with Burger Beatz, the writer/producer/performer behind the new album Sculptures. We will take you through the entire album, song by song, and give you a behind the scenes look at how and why each was made.

Welcome to Sculptures.

TRACK 1 - Dedicated To

Burger Beatz

I wanted to lead the album with something real. Something that told the listener who I was and where I came from. I feel like this is a very small snapshot of my life, that tells you a lot more than a long story does. Like the intro says, some people don't want to wake up, because that dream is so much better than reality. I have been there. It is a deceptive place. It prevents you from growing as a person and feeds the source of your pain at the same time. You are driven deeper into the place you are trying to get out of.

My approach to the performance was to capture that feeling. I had to be there again, back when those memories first happened. To feel that pain again. The chorus, "I don't want to wake up today", that is how I used to feel each day. I wasn't happy where I was and didn't know how to get out. This is also the reason it is the first song on the album, because this is what is being left behind. This is what the album is about, growing, letting go, and better understanding who I am.

The second verse, or bridge, whatever we decide to "label" it, (Again, this album is about sounds, not songs) this piece is about taking a step forward, and excepting that I am also at fault for some of my setbacks. Own who you are. Own what you do. Learn from it, and own who you will become.

"Way too young to be so grown,

Concrete walls throwing glass stones,

Share my thoughts and bare my soul,

Crashing paper planes flying too low"

The lyrics page is about leaving the past behind, when all the while it tries to drag you back down.
