This is an interview with Burger Beatz, the writer/producer/performer behind the new album Sculptures. We will take you through the entire album, song by song, and give you a behind the scenes look at how and why each was made.

Welcome to Sculptures.

TRACK 3 - Feathers

Burger Beatz

"Feathers" is a celebration! I get it now, I think I understand life now. Well, maybe not entirely, but I am a lot closer to understanding who I am than I was before. I need to be me. You need to accept who you are before you can become who you want to be. Again, the theme is growth. The first lyric of the song is a reference to water washing away your pain.

"Open my hands to my face,

water wash over my skin,

took away all of my pain,

don't make me feel it again"

This is my metaphor for me growing as a person and accepting who I am. Having confidence and pride in what I have become and how far I have travelled to get here.

I love the drums that lead this record. They sound organic to me, primal. The chorus is primal as well. No words, just a chant of emotion. This song is constantly changing, constantly demanding your attention. Then it gets to the second verse and becomes very direct. Fuck the critics. Fuck the people who try to keep you from being more than they are. Strive for greatness and never let your ideas be caged. Fight for your ideas until other people join in the fight.

The lyrics page depicts a warrior, because that is who you must become inside to succeed. Never stop fighting. When blood dries, and wounds heal, and bodies decompose, the only thing that will be left are the ideas you fought for.
