TRACK 2 - Like Blankets
Burger Beatz
"Like Blankets". My favorite song on the album. Everyone makes decisions in life, everyday, and everyone has a different reason for making the choices they make. This song is about what influences me to make mine. The things that were put in my head growing up, that caused me to think the way I think. They are not always right. They are not perfect. They are flawed, because people are flawed.
The chorus was heavily influenced by Lana Del Rey. I love the feeling she is able to capture in her music, and it is something I strive to capture with my own. It is about glorifying things that society thinks shouldn't be glorified. There is a thrill in it; the rebellion and non-conformity. Learning who you are by being who you shouldn't be.
The beat is driven by the distorted sample that has been slowed down and destroyed. It has been through some shit. Just like the you and me. It has scars. Just like you and me. At points it is loud and jarring, purposely done to reflect the unexpectedness of life. It ends with nothing more than the distorted 808's leading us out, everything gets left behind.
"Summers forever when your too young to know better memories."
The lyrics page is a reference to the title, Like Blankets, the man at peace in his blanket. Blankets are comforting, blankets shield you from the outside world, but they don't remove you from it. Eventually you have to leave it.
